Dr. Bindu Thirumalai

An Adjunct Faculty member at NIAS Bengaluru, Dr. Bindu Thirumalai brings over 28 years of experience across academia, the development sector, government initiatives, and educational technology, specialising in teacher professional development (TPD), curriculum design, and education systems. Formerly an Assistant Professor at the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), TISS Mumbai, she has led large-scale research and blended certificate programmes to scale teaching-learning improvements within government education systems.

Her work explores online teacher communities of practice, mobile-messaging-app-based professional learning, and OER curation for large-scale state interventions. As Chief of Professional Learning, Dr. Thirumalai draws on her rich background in evidence-based practice and institutional collaboration to drive transformative capacity-building initiatives for school leaders, educators, and learning professionals.

Dr. Thirumalai also played a crucial role in the strategic coordination of the overall curriculum development effort for CLIx and was an active contributor to curriculum development and research in Mathematics and Digital Literacy.
